Jewish Heritage Month
Jewish Heritage Month, is an annual observance in the United States that takes place during the month of May. It is a celebration established to recognize and honor the contributions and achievements of Jewish Americans to the United States, highlighting the rich history, culture, and impact of the Jewish community in various fields such as science, arts, politics, and civil rights.
Jewish American Heritage Month began in 1980 when Congress passed a resolution that called on the President to proclaim April 21-28, 1980, as Jewish Heritage Week. Over the years, subsequent presidential proclamations continued to designate a week in April or May as Jewish Heritage Week. This tradition culminated on April 20, 2006, when President George W. Bush officially declared May as Jewish American Heritage Month.
